Buy/Sell History

3/31/08 - Buy

Nvdia Corporation (NVDA)

Added to my Nvdia position with the cash from the Landec sale. The additional amount brought the total market value of the position in line with the rest of the positions due to a recent drop in share price.

2/22/08 - Sell

Landec Corporation (LNDC)

I closed my position in Landec, the proceeds sit in cash until the next rebalance. More information on the sale is here.

1/4/08 - Buy

Activision, Inc. (ATVI)

I doubled my position. I try to keep my positions of equal value but this now represents twice the normal position in my portfolio.

12/3/07 - Buy

Activision, Inc. (ATVI)

I bought this on the news that they were merging with Vivendi Games, Blizzard Entertainment’s parent company. Together they are the leading video game company with almost any metric. I bought an amount equivalent to my previous positions.

9/24/07 - Buy & Rebalance

Cognizant Technology Solutions Corporation (CTSH)

They are an Information Technology consulting firm based in India servicing many American corporations. My purchase amount was equivalent to my other positions.

The Rebalance

Due to varying price appreciation among my first six stocks, they were no longer at equivalent values. On this date I added new cash to the accounts in the proportions necessary to balance the positions.

3/14/07 - Buy

Nvdia Corporation (NVDA)

I decided Nvdia was the better place for the capital from the Atheros sale. The reason this came a month later was that I was waiting for my brokerage to refund my previous trade commissions so I could buy a couple extra shares under the same transaction fee.

2/5/07 - Sell

Atheros Communications (ATHR)

I sold my full position here just because I felt it was becoming a bit over hyped by analysts and I could find a better place for the money.

1/4/07 - Initial Buys

I bought an equal amount (by percent of portfolio, 16.7%) of each of these six companies.

USG Corporation (USG)

A major building materials supplier with a wide range of products for residential, commercial, remodeling, and industrial applications.

Barr Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (BRL)

A moderate sized pharmaceutical company, especially engaged in creating and marketing generic versions of popular pharmaceuticals.

Exponent, Inc. (EXPO)

A smaller scientific and engineering consulting firm. They have a multi-discipline team of ‘intellectual types’ that they use to help solve the complex technical issues of other companies.

Landec Corporation (LNDC)

A smallish company that develops specialty polymer products predominantly for food and agricultural applications.

Atheros Communications, Inc. (ATHR)

They develop and license semiconductor technologies for wireless applications. Chips in wireless routers are often developed by these guys.

Tsakos Energy Navigation LTD (TNP)

A medium sized oil transport company. They operate a fleet of oil tankers that service locations world-wide.
